Firstly, this is one of the most important things you will need to hear. But before you think that I am downplaying the importance of school, I will have you know that I have a diploma, I have also had my undergraduate and graduate degrees, and currently working on my PhD. I have also established businesses that are doing well, and I am a Pastor. So, I do not say it lightly if I say church is more important than school.

In this article, I will talk to you about why Church is the most important of all you will ever need in relation to your education or career.

church is more important
Your Spiritual life is important

Why is your spiritual life more important than any thing else you are doing?

We were created to worship God.

‬‬ “For it was in Him that all things were created, in heaven and on earth, things seen and things unseen, whether thrones, dominions, rulers, or authorities; all things were created and exist through Him [by His service, intervention] and in and for Him.”

Colossians‬ ‭1:16‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

The main reason why God made man was for man to worship him. Worship simply means “focusing on God.” When a mom and dad decide to have a child, they do not call a meeting with the unborn child to decide if he or she wants to be born. The child has no say in this but upon arrival the parents go all out in showing love to their baby. They plan what the child is going to wear, even choosing the kind of school the child will go. All the child had to do was to appear. In the same way, “it pleased God to create you” (Rev. 4:11), and it is his desire to love you immensely and do you good.

Therefore, church is important because it helps you to focus on God. Church helps you to develop your relationship with your loving Father. He has made for his pleasure. This does not mean you work tirelessly as a slave. But it is his pleasure to also do you good.

Life is Spiritual

Life is spiritual. For this reason, the person who is able to command the spiritual has the advantage in this world. This physical world is controlled by the spiritual realm. Whatever you see is a manifestation of what was said in the spirit. That is why Hebrews says:

“By faith we understand that the worlds [during the successive ages] were framed (fashioned, put in order, and equipped for their intended purpose) by the word of God, so that what we see was not made out of things which are visible.”

Hebrews‬ ‭11:3‬ ‭AMPC‬‬

Friend, you will be at a disadvantage if you only master this physical world. This is why in a bid to gain the advantage, we see people trying to gain access to the spiritual through occultism and fetish practices. What you need to know about the church is that it helps you to develop your ability to be able to command, and control and partake in spiritual decisions, thus, helping you to do well in the physical realm.

Life is Spiritual

God set Moses to lead his children from Egypt to “a land flowing with milk and honey”-Canaan. This land had people who were going about their normal day-to-day activities of buying and selling, going to school, marrying, etc but they had no idea that in the spirit, their time was up. As a result, they were overtaken.

Beloved, you need to get this. Understand that life is spiritual. When you begin to understand it, you will begin to learn how to take charge of your physical environment.

Life is eternal

Every human being is created to live forever. One day, everything you’re building or gathering will be left behind. However, we will live forever more. You either face eternal glory or eternal damnation. That is why you have to take church seriously. Because, church is preparing you for eternity. It is important to know that eternity can happen anytime, therefore, you must always be prepared. Make church your priority. School does not prepare you for eternity.

It is important to note that if you’re taking God for granted, one day, you’ll stand before him in eternity. So, take church seriously. Invest in eternity. (Store your treasure in heaven).

Life is a Test

Take your present life as a rehearsal for the main production which is eternity. There are several things that can happen when we end up in eternity. Firstly, you may end up there and have no treasure. Secondly, you may end up in eternity and find yourself in hell, a place where God doesn’t want you to go. This is the reason why he has asked me to remind you that this life you’re living is a test. Are you going to pass or fail? This is why the Lord has established the church to help you pass so that you can live gloriously in eternity.

This Life is just a dress rehearsal

We find our significance when connected to the Body

Experience has proven that engaging in several activities do not necessarily bring satisfaction. There will always the gnawing feeling that something missing. Thy is why the Lord has set the church to teach us what brings satisfaction.

The scripture says:

In this way we are like the various parts of a human body. Each part gets its meaning from the body as a whole, not the other way around. The body we’re talking about is Christ’s body of chosen people. Each of us finds our meaning and function as a part of his body. But as a chopped-off finger or cut-off toe we wouldn’t amount to much, would we? So since we find ourselves fashioned into all these excellently formed and marvelously functioning parts in Christ’s body,

Romans 12:4-5 MSG

I used to love making money so much until I read from about 3 authors who spoke about how their difficult battles with cancer was their wake up call about how their lives were going. Many of these achievements in life do not necessarily bring meaning to life until we are connected to the body of Christ.

God places his most valuable assets (you) in the Church

The question to ask, then is, “Why would God do that?” Here’s the simple but powerful answer. Because, he wants to take care of you and protect you.

““Listen to me, O house of Jacob, all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been borne by me from before your birth, carried from the womb; even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭46:3-4‬ ‭ESV

God is very interested in you. Do not take yourself out of church because you got employed or because you have found yourself in a high level school. God cares for you, and he wants you to know that. You are valuable to God.

You gain joy and peace as you attend church

Having joy and peace may sound so simple but the more I talk with people, the more I realize that many people don’t have joy and peace.

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭ESV‬‬

There’s a peace that comes to you when you are joined to the body of Christ. The Bible says, “In him was life and the life was the light of men” (John 1:3). This light in him helps make sense of life. This light produces peace. You will not be easily rattled when you are established in him.

From personal experience, going to church, and joining the flow, singing and dancing brings so much joy and peace. I have heard countless testimonies of people who felt so light and happy during the singing and dancing.

To live is for Christ!

church is important
Philippians 4:17

The church is a family

That’s plain enough, isn’t it? You’re no longer wandering exiles. This kingdom of faith is now your home country. You’re no longer strangers or outsiders. You belong here, with as much right to the name Christian as anyone. God is building a home. He’s using us all — irrespective of how we got here — in what he is building. He used the apostles and prophets for the foundation. Now he’s using you, fitting you in brick by brick, stone by stone, with Christ Jesus as the cornerstone 21 that holds all the parts together. We see it taking shape day after day — a holy temple built by God, 22 all of us built into it, a temple in which God is quite at home.

Ephesians 2:19-22 MSG

When you join church, you join a family. It is a much bigger family. Unfortunately, several families have suffered wreckage so there is no real good example of family but the church offers good examples of family. It is a place where God can give us good examples of fathers and moms as we grow spiritually. It is about time we began to embrace our church family. This is a blessing.

There will be no issues of nostalgia if we embraced our church family. I learnt my first ever driving lessons from a member of the church family. There was a time when I was in need financially, and guess what? It was a church family member who helped me out. I have been in America for so long without my biological family but I have had an equal measure of love from those who I embraced as a family in church.

Major in the church because one day, one of them may put in a word for you to get a job somewhere.

God uses people to transform us

It is often the negative side of the church people emphasize. But what you should understand is that God is using even those negative experiences to change you. Where else will you have the opportunity to practice what you learn when you do not have people to practice with. It will serve you well, if you develop a mindset of when someone offends me, it is an opportunity for me to learn to live like Christ.

Church is a place to practice growing in the fruits of the spirit. Do not throw away such wonderful opportunities.

Satan loves detached believers

Satan loves detached believers. When you stay detached from church, you become unplugged from the life of the Body, isolated from God’s family, and unaccountable to spiritual leaders. Satan loves this because he knows such people are defenseless and powerless against his tactics.

Some of these attacks may come as frustrations, depression, and many more.

The church is fundamental to our lives as believers. It is important to major in it. Embrace the body as your family and watch the Lord do wonderful things with your life.
