Sexual pressure is one of the challenges you will face as a young adult. As a result, it is important to overcome sexual pressure so that you will be able to save yourself from some of the many unpleasant consequences that come with it.
Many Christians are presently unusable by God because their flesh is still strong. That is why Jesus said that anyone who would come after him should deny himself. If you want to be used by God, you have to avail yourself to him so that he can work on you, and then, he can work with you. This is why I am talking about overcoming sexual pressure so that you can do business with God.
What causes sexual pressure?
The works of the flesh can cause sexual pressure
“Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Galatians 5:19-21 ESV
The flesh is the number one source of sexual pressure. So, in order to overcome sexual pressure, we will first need to figure out how to overcome the flesh. When we learn to overcome the flesh, our life’s foundations are going to be strong.
Evil spirits can cause sexual pressure
“Another angel, a second, followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, she who made all nations drink the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality.””
Revelation 14:8 ESV
You need to understand that evil spirits are not the initiators of sexual pressure. Rather, what starts the temptation is our desires. The evil spirit only takes over after you have started it yourself. Do not expose yourself to evil things like pornography, fornication, adultery, masturbation and blame the devil because you kept exposing yourself and that opened the door for him to come through.
When you allow evil spirits take over it becomes very difficult to stop. Therefore, do not put yourself in that position. But if per adventure you are caught in the trap, the Lord Jesus will set you free.
What then can one do to overcome it?
You need Deliverance to overcome sexual pressure
If you have reached a stage where evil spirits have taken over, you will realize that it is very difficult to break the habit. In that case, you will need to be delivered from such influences.
Decide to be delivered from this agency that is sponsoring your future demise. These evil spirits are not there to help. Instead, they are there to sabotage your destiny. Hurriedly request deliverance when you find yourself in such a state.
The lord has given us power to overcome such forces as he says in Mathew 18:18 that, “Truly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
What must you do to overcome sexual pressure?
“So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.”
2 Timothy 2:22 ESV
Step 1: Run From Lust
Firstly, run away from things that arouses lusts. You can do this by starving your flesh by guarding your eyes and your ears. Your eyes and ears are gates to your flesh. So, what you feed on through your eyes and ears will determine what happens to your flesh. If you feed on things that strengthen the flesh, it will grow strong till it overpowers you.
Many times, the movies we watch are triggers that push people into doing the wrong things. For this cause, do your very best to stay away from these movies that often have a corrupting influence.
Step 2: Run towards spirituality
Pursue spirituality. Run away from lust and run towards becoming a spiritual person. Then, you can subdue the flesh by growing spiritually. When you gain ascendency in the spirit, the Holy Spirit will overshadow you and cause you to lose any form of desire for lustful things.
A developed spirit helps you to control the flesh. So, invest in your spirituality. Also, do not take church for granted. Engage in service to God and you will soon find your spirit growing and as a result, you will be able to mortify the desires of the flesh.
Step 3: Run with God’s people
You must associate with the right people because when you move with the wrong people, you will catch their spirit. You cannot overcome sexual pressure alone. You need the Saints of God. People who will pray with you and encourage you when you find yourself in a fault are a blessing to us on this journey.
Step 4: Marry early or quickly
Marry quickly to avoid unnecessary sexual pressure. You do not need so many things to marry. Importantly, what you will need is a job. This will go a long way to help you to overcome sexual pressure.
