When it comes to money you always have to answer that question: “Why do you want to be a millionaire?”
Although Money is very important, it is the love of it that causes people to err. Your reason for having a lot of money should not be because you want the best car or houses or clothes. The kind of people I am making these series for are those who want to change people’s lives and the world at large. So, it is important to answer that question.
Money is controlled by a spirit.
“I will give you the treasures of darkness and the hoards in secret places, that you may know that it is I, the Lord, the God of Israel, who call you by your name.”
Isaiah 45:3 ESV
It is important to understand that money is controlled by a spirit. That is why the Bible describes it as “treasures of darkness.” The spirit that controls money is called mammon.
I am sharing this because you need to ask yourself who is going to control your money. And which of the spirits is going to trust you.
You will serve either God or Mammon. You cannot serve both. The spirit of mammon has the power to make you wealthy and God has the power to make you wealthy.
““No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
Matthew 6:24 ESV
We can see in scripture that God can give you the power to make wealth: “You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day” (Deuteronomy 8:18 ESV).
Money has a spirit, a soul, and lives in a body.
As I have mentioned above, Mammon is the spirit behind money. The soul is it’s value. It determines its value by determining the economy of nations and causing the markets to turn here and there. The body is in the currency. But really, what is controlling it is the spirit.
The reason why I am asking you to answer why you want to be a millionaire is that it will help you to decide who you want to serve. And who you serve will bless you with it.
If God is going to prosper you, you must use it to further the purposes of his kingdom. Mammon, however, will make you use it to sell drugs, run gangs and many things which will destroy lives.
Take this statement very carefully:
Wealth is not acquired. Wealth is entrusted to you by a spirit.
If God trusts you, He will give you power. Or mammon will say, I trust this guy to destroy lives so I’ll give him more.
If God cannot trust you, why would he give you more? You must be a millionaire God can trust.
“If then you have not been faithful in the unrighteous wealth, who will entrust to you the true riches?”
Luke 16:11 ESV
Differences between God and Mammon
There is a difference between the money God gives and the money Mammon gives you. The difference between between mammon and God’s power is that God’s wealth adds no sorrow. When Mammon blesses you, it ties it with sorrow. That is why you can have money and end up in jail.
This is why you have to use your money to build and help people if you want to be a millionaire.
